Self Publish Book

Every writer has their own reasons for writing, and their own reasons for wanting to self-publish. If you want to publish your own book, you may be responsible for the cover design, page layout, and proofreading. To get the highest quality, take the self-publishing process seriously. You can choose to have your self-published book as an ebook, where you'll receive valuable online visibility, softcover or hardcover. Or all three!

Reasons to Publish Your Own Book

You set your own rules. When you go through a self publishing house, you may be required to make changes to your book. Changes that you aren't too keen on. Additionally, the publishing house has the last word on the title, cover, and typeset. If you self-publish, you are in control of the whole process. There's no one you have to answer to. That type of freedom allows you to put out the book you want.

You want to get your book in the hands of readers and don't want to wait for an agent or a publishing house to acquire your book. It's normal to feel anxious about having a real life book in your hands.

You can make more money. For every book sold through a publisher, the average writer makes around $1. If you self publish your book, you will retain all of your profits. Let's say your book sells for $12 and it only cost you $3 to publish your book. You will make a $9 dollar profit.

The market for your book is limited. Not every book is written with the masses in mind. If your book is intended for a small market, self-publishing is the best route to take.

The content is time sensitive. If your book must move quickly because the events you cover in your book are time sensitive, then self publishing is worth considering. Without the middle man, your book can be published in no time.

Every self-publisher works differently

Difference in costs. Some self publishing companies cost thousands of dollars, others only hundreds. Research each alternative to determine which on meets your budget and expectations.

Extra costs. Some of the self publishers charge extra for proofreading and copywriting. Some publishers will handhold you through the process, and others have a web-based application where you are responsible for the entire publishing process. Make sure publishing your own book is cost effective as you will be required to make a minimum order.
