Are you interested in writing a book? A lot of people
are these days, but most aren’t sure how to get started.
It always seems to be such a doable task, until it gets
right down to finding the right plot.
Finding a good plot for your book really doesn’t have
to be that hard. The easiest way is to find a best seller
from 8-10 years ago. Copy that plot. I don’t mean
plagiarism. I mean change the people, the place, the
names, maybe even the main character. Have a mans
character become a women. Put your own spin on it. But if
you take that older best seller and go through and write
out the plotline, this can be an invaluable resource in
coming up with the plot for your own book
Or you can think of a story from you r won life. But
don’t just tell it. As a beginning writer, that can be
difficult and quite honestly rather boring. Unless of
course you have led an extraordinarily exciting life.
Which of course, most of us haven’t. The story line
needs to exciting for everyone and some of our own life
stories, although fascinating for us, are less then
scintillating for everyone else.
You can however take an experience in your own life and
expand and fictionalize it. This can be a great way to
come up with a plot, especially if you have had some
exciting things happen to you in your life. Embellish the
story for the best results. Your own life experiences
combined with the plot of an old best seller may be just
what you are looking for in coming up with the plot for
your book.
Once you have the idea, start writing. You don’t have
to wait until everything is perfect. Write out an outline
of how you see the story going, and get to work.
Everything will undoubtedly get changes as you begin
writing anyway. Putting the words down on paper is one of
the most important parts. If you get to stuck on making
sure the plot is perfect before you begin writing, you may
never begin writing. Also, once you start, you may
discover a better and more interesting way for the story
to go.
Finding a plot for your book is not nearly as difficult
as you might think. It can be done more easily then you
would imagine.
